Terms of sale

Three things are sold here. This page says what each one is, when it arrives, and what happens if it does not. It is written to be read rather than to be survived.
Who you are buying from
Christopher Sisamos, trading as sisamos.net, established in Cyprus. Contact: chris@sisamos.net. Every email about an order is answered by the person who wrote the thing you bought.
What is sold
New Rome, twelve euro
A novel, published a chapter at a time while it is being written. Eleven chapters are planned. Chapter One is free to everyone and always will be, so you can read eight thousand words before deciding whether to pay for anything.
Twelve euro buys the remaining ten chapters as they are finished, and the completed book at the end. There is one payment and no subscription. Chapters arrive when they are written, not on a schedule, and no date is promised because one would be invented.
The dissertation, fifteen euro
An MSc dissertation as a PDF, together with an audio reading of it. The abstract and the first chapter can be read and heard without paying.
The narration is generated by a voice model trained on the author's own recorded voice. It is said here as well as on the page because you should know what you are listening to before you buy it.
A project review, one hundred and fifty euro
A written review of the material you send, returned within three working days of payment, counted in Cyprus time. The date you will have it by is shown on screen once you have paid, and it does not move afterwards.
You may ask one follow-up question about the review at no extra cost.
Prices, tax and payment
Prices are in euro and include any tax due. Payment is taken by Stripe, who handle the card details; this site never receives them. Your contract for the goods is with the seller named above, not with Stripe.
Stripe emails you a receipt. The site also shows you a short reference
code beginning NR-, RS- or PR-.
Keep it. It is how you get back into something you bought if
you change browser or clear your cookies.
Delivery
- New Rome: access opens the moment the payment settles, and each new chapter is sent to the address you paid from.
- The dissertation: the files unlock immediately.
- A review: within three working days, by email.
If something does not arrive, write. It will be sorted out, and you will not be asked to prove anything beyond your reference code.
Cancelling, and your fourteen days
If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK you normally have fourteen days to change your mind about something bought online, without giving a reason.
There is one exception, and the law requires that you be told about it before it applies rather than afterwards. Where you ask for something to be delivered immediately and agree that doing so ends your right to cancel, that right is gone once delivery begins. Where that applies you are told so in those words, on the form, above every way of paying, before you pay.
Put plainly, product by product:
- The dissertation: everything unlocks the instant the payment clears, so the exception applies and the form says so before you pay. Once it is delivered, the fourteen days are gone.
- A review: paying is asking for the work to start. Once the review is written the fourteen days no longer apply. Before it is written they do, and you get everything back.
- New Rome keeps its fourteen days. Most of what you are paying for has not been written yet, so waiving a cancellation right over it would not be fair and is not asked for. Change your mind within fourteen days and you get your money back.
To cancel, email chris@sisamos.net with your reference code. No form, no reason needed. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, within fourteen days of you asking.
If the book is never finished
This is the honest risk in buying a book that is being written, so it gets its own heading rather than a line in the small print.
If New Rome is abandoned, everyone who paid gets a full refund, offered without being asked for, and keeps whatever chapters exist. If it is merely slow, it is slow; that is not a failure and is not refunded, though the fourteen days above always applied at the start and you can ask any time before then.
What you may do with what you buy
Read it, listen to it, print a copy, keep it forever, and lend it to someone the way you would lend a book. What you may not do is republish it, sell it, or feed it to a machine to train on. The work stays the author's.
A review written for you is yours to use however you like, including commercially.
What is promised, and what is not
The things sold here are made as well as they can be made and are described honestly. Nothing here limits your legal rights as a consumer, and nothing on this page should be read as trying to.
What is not promised is an outcome. A review is an opinion, carefully formed and plainly argued, and acting on it is your decision. A dissertation is a piece of research, not advice. Nothing sold here is legal, financial, medical or professional advice of any kind.
Where liability can lawfully be limited, it is limited to what you paid. Liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded is not excluded.
Things going wrong at this end
If a page will not load, a file will not open, or access is lost, write and it will be fixed or refunded. The site is one person's and it is occasionally down; that is not an excuse, it is the reason the reference code exists.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Cyprus. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the EU or the UK, you keep the protections of your own country's law and may bring a claim in your own courts. Nothing above takes that away.
